This season’s baseball regular season will run through at least October 10. Due to the record number of rainouts, doubleheaders with two games per day have been organized.
The Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) announced on Monday that the remaining games of the 2023 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO regular season have been finalized.
A total of 116 games will be played, including 50 games that were not originally scheduled and 66 rainouts. The 50 unscheduled games are one game left after 15 games (five three-game series) between teams as the two-game series were abolished from this season.
Accordingly, the regular season will run until October 10. On that day, games will be held simultaneously at five stadiums: Jamsil (Lotte-LG), Gochuk (Samsung-KEUM), Suwon (Doosan-KT), Gwangju (SSG-KIA), and Changwon (Hanwha-NC).
There will also be 10 doubleheaders during this period. In particular, on September 9, a total of nine games will be held, including doubleheaders at four stadiums: Jamsil (Samsung-Dusan), Gocheok (Hanwha-Kiwoom), Gwangju (LG-KIA), and Changwon (Lotte-NC).
The doubleheaders will start with the first game at 3 p.m. on weekdays and 2 p.m. on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays, and the second game at 6:30 p.m. on weekdays and 5 p.m. on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays. However, if the first round ends after 6:00 p.m. on weekdays and 4:30 p.m. on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays, the second round will be held 30 minutes after the end of the first round.
If Game 1 is canceled or ends early, Game 2 will be played at the original scheduled time.
If additional matches are canceled due to rain by Sept. 7, they will be scheduled on the first available makeup date. If there is no backup date, the game will be organized as a double-header after September 12 if the same bracket is available, or at a later date if the same bracket is not available.
If a game is canceled due to rain after September 8, it will be organized on the reserve day of the priority schedule, and if there is no reserve day, the reorganization method will vary depending on the next day’s bracket.
If the next day’s game is in the same bracket, it will be organized as a double-header the next day, and if the next day’s game is not in the same bracket, it will be reorganized in the following order: double-header on the second day of the same bracket, and later reorganization.
After October 11, matches scheduled at a later date will be organized as double-headers if they are in the same bracket. 바카라
This increases the likelihood that additional doubleheaders will be scheduled in addition to the 10 doubleheaders currently scheduled.
Teams can only play a maximum of nine consecutive games when scheduling a doubleheader with a reserve day. However, games that are rescheduled after Oct. 11 will not be limited.
To minimize the impact of travel congestion in the days leading up to the Thanksgiving holiday, games on Sept. 28 will start at 5 p.m., and games on Oct. 2 will start at 2 p.m. if an alternative holiday is designated, or 6:30 p.m. if no alternative holiday is designated.
If the rainout is for a non-postseason game, the game may be played on a travel day between the final day of the regular season and the opening day of the wild card round or during the postseason.
