Yoris was certain to lose his starting spot at the end of last season and pushed for a move this summer. Tottenham also changed their goalkeeper, bringing in Guglielmo Vicario.
But Yoris couldn’t leave. He had a number of clubs calling, but he couldn’t decide where to go. Lazio came up, but they didn’t want him as a backup, and Saudi Arabia offered him three times the salary, but he turned them down again, saying he wanted to stay in Europe.
In the end, it looks like he’s back to Nice, who were linked earlier in the summer transfer window. Youssouf was born in Nice and spent 11 years playing for the club between 1997 and 2008. This summer, he also opened a restaurant in Nice.
According to local journalist Matt Law, Yoris and Nice are in talks about a return before the transfer window closes. Nice are currently without a goalkeeper after terminating the contract of Kasper Schmeichel.
For now, Yoris hasn’t accepted the offer and is reportedly mulling it over. According to French outlet L’Equipe, Yoris also recently rejected an approach from Newcastle United. Newcastle also have a starter in Nick Pope, and Yossi has made it clear that he doesn’t want to be a backup.
Yossi believes he is still good enough to play as a starter.
